Henry Jay DeGarmo, the oldest son of A.D. DeGarmo, married November 20, 1889, Effie Lockwood.  She was born September 7, 1865, the daughter of Johnson S. and Malinda (Hodge) Lockwood.  The couple lived at "Pickstone Farm" on the northwest corner of Hickory Ridge and Middle Roads, where Henry raised both Shorthorn cattle and Oxford sheep.  The couple had two children, i.e., (i) Raymond J. DeGarmo, born March 13, 1891, and (ii) Cornelia M. DeGarmo, born January 8, 1924.  Effie (Lockwood) DeGarmo was a carrier of Huntington's Disease and died April 16, 1916.  Henry survived another 30 years, dying on January 11, 1947.  The photo below shows Raymond J. DeGarmo and his father inspecting two of the family's sheep.
