Michael Beach died June 25, 1855, and was buried in Highland Cemetery.   His wife, Lucy (Davis) Beach, survived another dozen years before she died of typhoid pneumonia on December 17, 1867, and was buried beside her husband.  The couple had a total of 14 children, several of whom died young and/or unmarried [Note 1].  The rest eventually moved away from Highland with the exception of son Davis Beach, shown below.  Born in Highland on June 20, 1835, Davis Beach stayed to care for his aged mother and, at her death, inherited the family farm.

[1] - The fourteen children of Michael and Lucy (Davis) Beach were as follows: (i) William Castle Beach, born circa 1821; died October 2, 1862, at Washington, D.C.; married and moved to Tuscola County, Michigan.  He enlisted in the Union Army at the start of the Civil War and died of disease.  His body was eventually returned to Michigan and is buried in Highland Cemetery; (ii) Lucy Rebecca Beach, born circa 1822; died June 8, 1897, at Fenton, Michigan; married James Everetts and removed to Rose Township; (iii) Michael Beach, Jr., born circa 1824; went to California during the Gold Rush and died there circa 1850; (iv) Horace Beach, born circa 1825; went to California during the Gold Rush and died there circa 1850; (v) Lewis Castle Beach, born circa 1826; removed to Rose Township and later Fenton, Michigan, where he died February 25, 1925, (vi) George David Beach, born July 20, 1829; removed to Rose Township where he died May 27, 1900; (vii) Nelson Beach, born circa 1832; died young; (viii) Hiram Beach, born circa 1833; removed to Fenton, Michigan, and ultimately to California where he died after 1924; (ix) Benjamin Franklin Beach, born February 6, 1834(?); lived in Highland until the 1880's, then removed to Newago County, Michigan, where he died after 1924; (x) Davis Beach, born June 20, 1835; died June 29, 1924; (xi) Julia E. Beach, born circa 1836; died 1893; married John O'Hare; (xii) Sarah Beach, born circa 1838; died 1861 at Merrill, Michigan, after being struck by a train on the Grand Trunk Western railroad; (xiii) Mary M. Beach, born circa 1840; married James Hughes and moved to Tuscola County, Michigan; and (xiv) Reuben Castle Beach, born May 10, 1843; died July --, 1926, in Venice, California; married Mary Jane Johnson of Clyde.
