Daniel Roe, Jr. was born circa 1781 at Granby, Connecticut, and married circa 1803 Mary a/k/a Polly Crossman, by whom he would have five children, i.e., (i) Pamela Roe, born March 30, 1804; (ii) Aurelia Roe, born circa 1811; (iii) Squire Washington Rowe, of whom more later; (iv) Nelson Roe, born January --, 1820; and (v) Mary Ann Roe, born 1822.  By 1811 the family was living at Camillus, Onondaga County, New York.  Sometime after 1815, however, they relocated to Parma, Monroe County, New York, just west of Rochester.  Here they remained until 1835, when Daniel and Polly, their son Squire W. and other family members came to Highland Township, settling on lands in Sections 29 and 32.   Daniel Roe died on April 20, 1853, at age 65, and is buried in this West Highland Cemetery.  His wife Polly followed him in death on August 15, 1861, at age 82 years, 5 months, and is buried beside her husband.

Seen here is the patent issued to Daniel Roe "of Monroe county, New York" for the west half of the southeast quarter of Section 29, Highland Township.  Although purchased on May 29, 1835, the actual patent was not issued until April 1, 1837.
