BACK TO THE FAMILY PHOTO ALBUM PAGE James Wardlow was born in Ireland in 1800 and came to America at age 26. He initially settled in New York City where he worked eleven years as a marble cutter. Here he married Elizabeth McGhee. In 1837, however, the couple removed to Michigan and took up 80 acres of land in the northeast quarter of Section 14, Highland Township, on the north side of present day Wardlow Road. The patent for this purchase is seen here. |
