Original Highland Township Landowner Justus L. Andrus NW F 1/4 of Section 19 SW 1/4 of NE 1/4 of Section 19 Justus L. Andrus was born April 23, 1812, in New York, the son of Levi and Rebecca (Ladd) Andrus. He married March 31, 1836, Sarah Wilkenson Smith, who was born July 13, 1812, at Madison County, New York. The couple settled in Highland Township, Oakland County, Michigan, where they appears on the 1840 and 1850 Censuses. Justus L. Andrus died of typhoid fever at Highland on December 4, 1870, at age 58 years, 7 months, 11 days. His wife Sarah died at Milford, Oakland County, Michigan, on January 15, 1898. |
