Original Highland Township Landowner Hiram Austin NW 1/4 of SW 1/4 of Section 13 This is likely the Hiram Austin who appears on the 1845 Michigan State Census for Milford Township, Oakland County, with 2 males under 10; 1 male 10 < 21; 1 male 21 < 45; 1 female under 10; 1 female 10 < 21 and 1 female 21 < 45. That man, in turn, appears to be Hiram Austin, born March 7, 1815, the son of Elias Austin, and the brother of Jobe and Lewis H. Austin; both of whom are known to have resided at Milford. Hiram the son of Elias later removed to Holly, Oakland County, where he died October 17, 1875. |
