Original Highland Township Landowner Alfred Barrett E 1/2 of SE 1/4 of Section 6 NW 1/4 of SE 1/4 of Section 6 Alfred Barrett, the son of David and Abigail (Spaulding) Barrett, was born 1805 in Connecticut and died 1865 at Highland Township. He married Corinthy Richmond, born 1810 and died 1877. The couple lived for a time in Genesee County, New York, and Ashtabula County, Ohio, before settling in Highland. Both are buried in West Highland Cemetery. First Land Owners of Oakland County gives his last name as "Bassett" but notes that Oakland County Records spell the name "Barrett."
