Original Highland Township Landowner Anson Hayes Beebe SW 1/4 of NE 1/4 of Section 18 Anson Hayes Beebe was the son of Anson and Abigail (Young) Beebe of New York, who came to Michigan circa 1834 and settled in Rose Township, Oakland County, Michigan, where they kept a tavern. Anson Hayes Beebe himself settled in Highland Township where he married December 31, 1834, Betsy Hovey. She was born July 10, 1811. The couple appear on the 1840 Census for Highland.
