Original Highland Township Landowner Jeptha Coburn Jeptha Coburn was born circa 1788 and served in the War of 1812. He married Mercy _____, who was born circa 1799 and died January 9, 1849. In addition to his patent for land in Highland Township, Oakland County, Michigan, Jeptha also purchased property in adjoining Hartland Township, Livingston County. In February, 1836, he acquired 40 acres in Section 26, and in May, 1836, an additional 40 acres in Section 13. Jeptha Coburn died May 6, 1879, at age 91 years, 4 months, 11 days. |
