Original Highland Township Landowner David Hastings W 1/2 of SE 1/4 of Section 14 Nothing is known about this man beyond his name and the fact his patents gives his residence as Washtenaw County, Michigan. It is tempting to think he is related to (Zaccheus) Crocker Hastings and/or the George Hastings who appear on the 1840 Census for Highland, but no relationship has yet been discovered. Timothy Hopkins, The Kelloggs In The Old and New World, (1903), Vol. 1, pp. 305-306, shows that Crocker Hastings had a brother George, born November 22, 1812, but no David appears in that family. |
