Henry and Pauline (Bradley) Hurlbut/Hurlburt

N pt of NW F. 1/4 of Section 1         NW F. 1/4 of Section 2        NE F. 1/4 of Section 2

Henry Hurlbut a/k/a Hurlburt, was born circa 1809.  He married April 17, 1834, Pauline/Paulina Bradley, the daughter of Gurdon and Phebe (Smith) Bradley of Fairfield, Herkimer County, New York.  The couple came to Oakland County, Michigan, circa 1835.  Pauline bought land in Section 1 of Highland Township, while Henry purchased adjoining property in Section 2.  Henry Hurlbut thereafter appears on the 1840 Census for Highland Township as "Hubbut" or "Hulbut."  The two younger females shown on this census are his daughters, i.e., (i) Harriet Paulina, born November 5th, 1836, in New York; and (ii) Alice Jane, born November, 1839, presumably in Michigan.  The family eventually moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Henry "Hurlburt" appears on the 1860 Census as a merchant, age 51, with wife Pauline B., age 48, and daughter Harriet B. (sic), age 24.   See: Leonard Abram Bradley, The Descendants of Isaac Bradley of Branford and East Haven Connecticut, 1650-1898, New York (1917).
