Original Highland Township Landowner Elijah W. Kent Elijah W. Kent was born September 10, 1817, at Benson, Rutland County, Vermont, the son of Theodore Kent. He married May 22, 1844, Amanda D. Morgan, and came to Highland in 1847. Elijah W. Kent was one of the founding members of the Freewill Baptist Church in 1857, and was a charter member of the Highland Congregational Church in 1884. His wife Amanda died February 24, 1891, at age 69, while Elijah himself died at Highland February 28, 1902, at age 84 years, 5 months, 18 days.
