Original Highland Township Landowner Daniel Fobes Leroy W 1/2 of NW 1/4 of Section 26 NE 1/4 of NE 1/4 of Section 27 Daniel Fobes Leroy was born January 18, 1811, at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, the son of Levi and Sarah (Palen) Leroy. He was the nephew and namesake of the Hon. Daniel Leroy who was one of the first settlers of Oakland County, Michigan; an early Oakland County judge; and co-founder of the Village of Fenton, Genesee County. Leroy Street in Fenton is named for the family. Daniel Fobes Leroy settled in Avon Township, Oakland County, where he married April 26, 1847, Mary Morrison. He died at Rochester, Oakland County, on March 2, 1896. There is no evidence that he ever actually settled on his purchases in Highland Township. |
