Original Highland Township Landowner Duncan McColl (McCall) NE 1/4 of SE 1/4 of Section 34 Duncan McColl was born 1807 in Scotland and married at Glasgow, February 17, 1830, Janett Findlay, born 1808, the daughter of Robert Findlay (Findley). The couple came to America with the Findlay and McPherson families and settled in Section 34 of Highland Township. Duncan McColl thereafter appears on the 1840 and 1850 Censuses for Highland. His wife died later in 1850, while Duncan McColl himself died in 1881. Note that the family name was originally spelled "McColl"; however, most published references employ the variant "McCall" and some of Duncan McColl's descendants themselves adopted this spelling. |
