Original Highland Township Landowner Peter McPherson Section 16 Note S 1/2 of SW 1/4 of Section 27 Peter McPherson was born in Scotland in 1795 and married in 1832 Janett Grierson. In 1834 the couple came to America with the families of Duncan McColl (McCall) and Robert Findley and settled in Highland Township, Oakland County, Michigan. Peter died on March 1, 1849, and his widow, Jannett, married second _____ Jones. McPherson street in Highland Station is named for this family. Note that McPherson's patent for 80 acres in Section 27 (Ref. No. 209) shows him as residing in Wayne County, Michigan. This suggests the family may have paused for a time in Detroit before finally coming to Highland. |
