Original Highland Township Landowner James Millholen SW pt of NW F. 1/4 of Section 3 SW 1/4 of SW 1/4 of Section 3 This is the James "Milhollan" who appears on the 1840 Census for Highland Township, Oakland County, Michigan, living near a George "Milhollan" who is possibly a son. An online genealogy suggests he may be the James Milholland who was born 1806 in Sempronius, Cayuga County, New York; died after 1880 in Dubuque, Iowa; and married circa 1830 Huldah ____. That family reportedly came from New York to Michigan, then on to Wisconsin, before finally settling in Iowa. It is further claimed that a George Milholland accompanied them on their migrations. See: http://freepages.family.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~royc/Sibly%20Milholland.pdf at page 80. Note that First Land Owners of Oakland County says the purchase made on September 24, 1836 [Ref. No. 24] is shown by Oakland County Records as having been made October 31, 1836. |
