Original Highland Township Landowner John C. Morse SW 1/4 of SW 1/4 of Section 5 W 1/2 of SW 1/4 of Section 29 John Carpenter Morse was born 1813, the son of Carpenter and Mary (Tenny) Morse. He and his brother Noah P. Morse accompanied or else soon followed the Tenny brothers to Highland Township, Oakland County, Michigan, in 1832-33. John C. Morse married December 29, 1847, Adaline Tenny. He died October 22, 1889, at age 76 years, 1 month, 24 days and is buried in West Highland Cemetery. Note that his patent issued August 16, 1837, included both the land in Section 5 of Highland Township as well as 80 acres in Section 28 of Rose Township, Oakland County. |
