Original Highland Township Landowner The Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 13 The 40 acre parcel described as the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 13 presents something of a mystery. Since it lies wholly under the surface of White Lake it may never have been offered for sale. No patent has yet been found which purports to convey it and current Oakland County parcel maps do not give it a parcel number (i.e., Sidwell Number). On the other hand, the 1896 Illustrated Atlas of Oakland County, Kace Publishing Co., shows the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter combined with the Northwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter into a single 80 acre parcel under the ownership of Mrs. F. (i.e., Francis) Beaumont. More recently, a 1964 tract map published by Rockford Map Publishing shows the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter as owned by one L. S. Hodges. More research is thus necessary to clarify this parcel's status. |
