Original Highland Township Landowner William Wilson NW 1/4 of NE 1/4 of Section 13 Nothing is known about this man beyond his name and the fact his patent gives his residence as Hamilton County, Ohio. Note that the 1850 Census for Hamilton County, Ohio, reveals numerous William Wilsons; including eight born between 1784 and 1823. It is tempting to assume some relationship between this William Wilson and the Martha Wilson, Lilly A. Wilson and/or Thomas Wilson who purchased land in Highland in 1836, especially since the parcel bought by Martha Wilson adjoins that bought by William Wilson in Section 13. Note, however, that patents issued to Martha, Lilly A. and Thomas Wilson predate William Wilson's purchase by 20 years, and all three are said to have resided in New York City; not Ohio. |
