The Johnson/Everts/Barnett store was later acquired by brothers Lewis J. and Milton Weaver, who ran it for many years. The photo below was taken looking southwest and shows the building as it looked in the 1920's during the Weaver brothers' ownership. The second floor of the building had a large hall used by the Odd Fellows for meetings, plays, dances and parties. Long-time Highland resident Selden Horton reported new flooring was later installed so the meeting hall could also be used for roller skating. The last owner was a Mr. Cook, who bought it in 1930. He renovated the building and opened for business in early 1931. A few months later, however, this store - like its predecessor - was destroyed by fire and never rebuilt.
