This shows the interior of Baker's store and restaurant, circa 1927. After Wilson W. Baker died in 1928 his widow, Edith (Gordon) Baker, continued the business, living in an apartment above the store. Clara Mae Beach, Our Highland Heritage, p. 260, writes that ".. people came from miles around to enjoy "Ma" Baker's hamburgers and gingerale floats." Mrs. Baker also served as postmistress at Clyde under her remarriage to Charles Hubbell of Holly.
