By 1877 the congregation had built a parsonage for its minister, as well as the barn shown in this photograph, at a cost of approximately $700.00. Over the years the church has been known by several names, e.g., Highland Ridge Free Baptist, Hickory Ridge Church, etc. So too, in some accounts the name "Free Will" is hyphenated; in others not. The Rev. F. W. Reeder, shown here, was pastor from 1904 to 1908. He is believed to be the same man who previously served a Free Will Baptist Church in Ellington, New York, from 1882 to 1883, and attended the 1889 Free Will Baptist Convention at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, as a pastor from Berryville, Virginia. Rev. Reeder was followed by Rev. _____ Lawson (1911-1913); Rev. _____ Berry (1914); and Rev. Arthur Longfield (1920-1923).
