After the township's offices were moved to their new location in 1953, the Fire Department had exclusive use of the old Town Hall.  By the mid-1960's, however, it had outgrown that building.  Thus, in 1969, work began on a new Fire Station No. 1 on the north side of West Livingston Road, just west of John Street.   The photo below was taken at the new station's dedication on January 23, 1971.   In the back row [left to right] are Robert Powers, Gordon Brooks, Ed Hollingdale (Fire Hall Building Authority0, James Reid (White Lake supervisor), Roy Carl (treasurer), Cliff Scherer (Huron Valley Schools superintendent), Chester Burton (former supervisor), James Dunleavy (trsustee), and Cliff Sheffler (Fire Hall Building Authority).  In the front row [left to right] are John Camp, Normagean Waters (former clerk), Louis Oldenburg (supervisor), Larry Mainland (Oakland County commissioner), Roland Casserly (fire chief), Clifford Smart (state district representative), Henry Bescanson (trustee), Clarence Carlson and Shirley Wakefield (clerk).
