Beaumont retired in 1908 and sold the hotel to W. F. Dodge. He, in turn, sold to A. E. Forsyth, in 1912. In 1913, however, Forsyth traded the business for two boarding houses in Detroit owned by Fred and Maggie Leek, who then ran the hotel the next two years. They, in turn, sold out in 1915 to John and Nancy Atley, who had come to live in Highland after John's wrist was cut in a sawmill accident in Lakeview, Michigan. The Atleys ran the hotel until 1935, after which it became a tavern and dance hall. A "floating" wood floor was built for dancing, with live music provided by touring bands. The photo below shows the building as it looked during the latter part of Atley's ownership.
