With increased auto traffic, however, came the need for better roads. To meet this need the Oakland County Road Commission built this garage in 1927 on the east side of St. John Street, north of Livingston Road, to house road maintenance equipment. The photo below shows the building looking north. Lined up in front are a 1924 or 1925 Pontiac, a Model T Pickup, a pull-behind grader, a McCormick Deering Model 10-20 with a second pull-behind grader, and four GMC K-52 4-cylinder flat bed trucks bed with 2 1/2 yard boxes.
