On August 21, 1921, 16 charter members met to organize the Highland Church of the Nazarene. The original church was built on the corner of King and McPherson Streets. A parsonage was constructed to the north of the church in 1935.  Some of the charter members were Herbert Glancy, Harold Wardlow, Joseph Ingamells, George Wardlow, Martha Phillips and Archie St. John.   George Wardlow's wife, Bertha Rockwell, was a very fine Sunday School teacher, teaching first in the Methodist Church and then in the Nazarene Church.
