The dwelling's upright center section with two flanking wings shows the Greek Revival influence that was popular at the time it was constructed. It is said that "Stone for the eighteen-inch thick walls, tamarack poles for the roof, oak studding, joists and hand- hewn beams over doors and windows all came from the fields and woods of the Rowe farm. The interior woodwork... is of Michigan pine hauled from Saginaw by ox team." The photo below is an interior view of the attic, showing the walls and roof joists.
