| THE TENNY LOG CABIN AND STONE BARN |

Adjacent to the Tenny Log Cabin stood another former Highland landmark - an
impressive octagonal barn made from native fieldstone that was a familiar site to Highland
residents for many years. Margaret Mastick wrote in the Milford Times for
March 5, 1969, that the barn was thought to have been built by Jesse Tenny around 1855.
The two story structure had walls that were eighteen inches thick. David
Barrett was a stone mason who might have helped to build the stone barn. It was
built into the side of a hill so that entrance to both floors could be made from the
ground. The photo below dates from the 1930's.
