Eliza A. Rowe, the oldest child of Squire W. and Dolly (Castle) Rowe, married September 7, 1856, Willis L. Smith, son of Roswell and Laura (Fox) Smith, born September 8, 1833, in Springborough, Ohio. They later removed to Milford.
James D. Rowe, the second child of Squire W. and Dolly (Castle) Rowe, is seen in the photos below. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in the Second Michigan Infantry for a term of three months. He thereafter reenlisted in the First Michigan Calvary, serving in Companies C, D and H. An orderly sergeant, he was wounded in action at Cold Harbor, Virginia, June 2, 1864, and again at Front Royal, Virginia, Aug. 16, 1864.
