This is the Highland Township portion of Walling's 1873 Map of
Oakland County, Michigan. Items of interest include (i) White Lake, with
Hubbels Island clearly shown near its southwest shore; and (ii) Curtis Lake, now called
Leonard Lake, in Section 15. Most of the township's major roads are accurately
shown, although Reid Road is depicted as crossing over Pettibone Lake Road and continuing
east all the way to Beaumont Road. Note also that while the new village of Highland
Station indeed has a "Sta," the post office was still at Spring Mills, where it
would remain until January 1, 1874.
