Original Highland Township Landowner

Madison Adams

E 1/2 of NE 1/4 of Section 22

Madison a/k/a James Madison Adams was born August 25, 1811, the son of Asa Adams.  He grew up in Parma, Monroe County, New York, where he married circa 1830 Martha Spencer.  The couple came to Oakland County, Michigan, with other members of their respective families circa 1835.  In 1836 Madison Adams and his brother Eber Adams jointly purchased an 80 acre parcel in Section 22; however, Madison Adams himself does not appear to have ever lived in Highland Township.  The 1840 Census shows him as residing in Farmington, Oakland County, Michigan, where he died December 10, 1873.
