The church was built on the southwest corner of Livingston Road and John Street, on three lots in the new "Crouse Subdivision," which Mr. and Mrs. John B. Crouse had given to the Methodist society in December, 1883. The foundation was constructed from stones which local farmers had pulled from their fields and donated. The architecture is classified as Victorian Carpenter Gothic with scroll saw trim (gingerbread). The tower in the northeast corner of the building housed a 624 pound bell which could be both "pealed" (freely rung) to announce the start of services or tolled for funerals.
