Automobiles and central heating eliminated the need for the horse barn and wood shed. In their place the former Hickory Ridge Schoolhouse was moved from North Hickory Ridge Road to Highland Station and attached to the south side of the church in 1946 to serve as a social hall. In 1957 a second, smaller addition (at the far right) was built to provide classroom space.
