The building's size, stage, curtain and backdrop made is suitable for many activities beyond formal township business. It soon became the scene of lectures, debates, Lyceum Society melodramas, school plays, band concerts and other performances. The cast of one such play is shown below: [From left to right] George Wardlow, Walter St. John, Will Downey, Bertha Hubbard, Sadie St. John, John Stiles, Hart Skarritt, and Bert Wardlow. The guns and knives held by three of the actors suggest this was a melodrama. Note also the colorful adds for local businesses painted on the curtain.
